LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

July 4th, 2011

My first encounter with the solar-powered dancing flower was at the annual 4th of July parade in Mokena, Illinois. It was a picture-perfect summer day with temperatures in the mid 70’s and not a cloud in the sky.  Kids lined the streets with empty bags to gather candy from all the floats passing by, while the adults drank ice cold beverages out of red solo cups nearby.

I headed to my friend’s house, which conveniently butted up against the parade route, to check out the recent renovations he had done. As I walked in, I caught a glimpse of a tiny daisy flower on the windowsill.

My friend Jill was washing dishes below that very window, so I asked her, “What is that? and where can I get one?” She replied,  “Oh, that’s a solar dancing Flower Tom. My mom gave it to me. I put it above the sink so it can get plenty of sunlight. The flower always puts a smile on my face and even makes doing dishes less of a chore.”  A dancing flower that makes doing dishes fun. I need one of these! It was love at first sight. 🙂
